How to write your inquiry

Start with the category and the style: name the category page (for example, merino wool ski socks, merino wool beanie, or merino wool base layer set) and the styles or cuts within it. Then state the colours and the size wording, in your own terms, and ask the supplier to confirm the size range for those styles. Then state any labelling or packaging notes, and the target date, and ask for the order figures that apply to your order. A message written in that order — category, style, colour, size, notes, timing — is a message that can be answered at style level.

If the inquiry covers more than one category, write one block per category, each with its own colours and sizes. Do not fold a sock line into a base-layer line, or a beanie line into a glove line, because each category has its own size and colour wording and its own style confirmation. Separate blocks are the simplest way to keep a mixed inquiry clear.

What happens next

The supplier reply should confirm the styles for each category line, the colours and size range for those styles, and the order figures that apply to the order, including the timing that follows from the target date you stated. If a reply confirms only the category in general, treat it as a reply that still needs a second round, and ask again for style-level confirmation. That second round is normal for category-led inquiries, and it is shorter when the first message already contained the checklist above.
